Dragboxes
Dragboxes provide a safe and rapid means of pipe laying in good, dry, stable ground. They should only be used when the ground will stand to the depth of the fully excavated trench and they are intended to act as a shield in the event of trench wall instability. The normal method of operation is for the excavator to drag the box forward by pulling on the front strut.
Standard Dragbox
Standard Dragboxes are available in 2 sizes:
5m Standard (length = 5000mm, height = 2480mm) and
7m Standard (length = 7070mm, height = 2000mm)
- The 5m Standard also has a 1520mm high top extension box
- The 7m Standard Dragbox may be connected in a piggy-back manner to double the height to a maximum of 4m
- Struts for the Standard Dragboxes are NOT adjustable. The box will be supplied with suitable struts to fit your excavation
- Both Standard Dragboxes can be fitted with hog-back rear struts to increase the width and clearance under the rear strut
- The 7m Standard Dragbox can be fitted with a 2m long rear extension to increase the overall length to 9.0m. This assembly has one front and two rear strut positions giving 6.35m clear between struts as per the Standard 7m box
