COVID-19 update from Mabey Hire 7.5.20

The government has recognised the vital importance of the construction industry to the future of our country. They have set the entire industry the challenge to find ways to maintain a level of construction output as we face the challenges of keeping everyone safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our focus, as always, is on the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone who works with or for Mabey Hire. This has been – and will continue to be – our priority as we work with our customers to rise to the government’s challenge.

While the majority of our depots have been closed, we’ve been supporting our customers by providing an emergency response and continuing to support critical infrastructure projects such as hospitals.  We have also been working hard to carefully plan how to expand support for our customers.

We’ve been working with our colleagues and some of our customers to carefully assess how that plan can work safely for all, and have started a phased approach to bringing people back to work. That means that, over the coming weeks, we will be responsibly expanding our capacity so that we can provide a broader service to our customers.

We have strict new safety and wellbeing procedures in place, including taking our people through a detailed return to work programme before they come back, carrying out daily briefings once at work – at a safe 2 metre distance – to identify and deal with the day’s potential hazards, and quarantining off-hired equipment for a minimum of 72 hours. We are also asking our people who can work from home – such as sales managers, engineers and support colleagues – to continue to do so.

As we step up our operations, we will constantly review how we are working and make improvements where necessary. While we work through this process in the background, we will make sure it’s always straightforward for you to contact us. So, please get in touch in the normal way and we will route your call to the best person to help at that time.

We have asked our entire team to play their part in keeping themselves, each other and you safe. We are asking our customers to do the same. We know the new way of working might mean that we cannot offer the level of service you have come to expect from us. However, we are doing all we can and in the safest way possible, so thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this together.

Thanks again and please take care,

Gordon
