As specialists in lakes and landscapes, and even possessing a Royal Warrant, Tulloch & Boggis are responsible for designing and delivering picturesque waterscapes across the country. Experienced in everything from a half-acre wildlife pond to a five-acre fishing lake, the team also manages the restoration of Victorian gardens and the extension, maintenance and enhancement of established lakes.
Tulloch & Boggis’ latest project took them to a private country house in East Leicester. Within the stunning grounds, a half acre size lake takes up prominent position in front of the property. Sadly, the picturesque surroundings were under attack, with the residing crayfish burrowing into the lake banks. With the creature’s tunnels able to be up to an impressive one metre in depth, this was causing concern around potential structural issues, with the ground susceptible to collapse and erosion
When the usual route of soft erosion control wasn’t feasible due to the seasonal flooding of a nearby brook, Tulloch & Boggis needed an alternative, permanent and robust solution.
We supplied a range of our 3m length 6mm thick trench sheet piles, for permanent installation around the entire lake perimeter and small island. As well as protecting the banks from further erosion, the ground support equipment also enabled Tulloch & Boggis to rebuild and stabilise the earth behind the piles.
Once installed, Tulloch & Boggis created a bespoke scheme with the addition of timber caps and edging, helping the groundworks to integrate seamlessly with the natural surroundings.
Guy Tulloch, Director at Tulloch & Boggis, said: “Having previously purchased Mabey Hire’s equipment on past projects, we were well aware of the company and its strong reputation. While we did approach other suppliers for quotes, Mabey Hire was more competitive and offered a higher quality of service. Their team were quick to respond and were a delight to work with, which made for an easier and more positive overall experience.”
Our engineered solutions range from standard designs to major projects, through to emergencies. We can also offer an end-to-end service from design and supply through to installation and removal.
