The safety and well-being of our customers, people and suppliers is always our number one priority. We are continually monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak in the UK and are taking the appropriate action, in line with government guidance, to keep our customers and our people safe.
The HSE have released a statement on COVID-19 and lifting equipment examination.
Unlike transport and other areas of compliance, the HSE does not have any plans to issue any exemptions to LOLER requirements, however this is continually under review. We will, of course, inform all of our customers of any changes immediately.
For any of our customers whose projects fall into the Emergency/Safety Critical category, we will do our best to support Lifting Equipment Examinations where possible. This will be with the support of our Inspection provider and our depots currently operating for emergency/critical work.
What does that mean to me?
If you have equipment ON HIRE or currently SUSPENDED then the following will apply:
Off Hired/Suspended equipment will run through our normal Inspection Process, either:
Or
Ongoing Safety Critical/Emergency Works
Due to a reduction in operations, we must be clear that Lifting Equipment that currently has an out of date Thorough Examination, MUST NOT BE USED under any circumstances.
Pre-use checks should be carried out prior to each use. This will identify whether the item is out of date. Please contact us immediately if you are unsure if this is the case and we will do all we can to assist.
If you have any queries regarding lifting equipment currently on hire, or have any concerns, then please do not hesitate to contact your local Mabey Hire depot or email emergencydepotteam@mabeyhire.co.uk for guidance.
