Good luck Anna!

We are rooting for our very own Anna Preston, Development Team Leader, who has been shortlisted for Project Manager of the Year at tonight's Women in Construction Awards.

The annual event showcases the brightest and best female achievers in the construction and built environment industries and Anna is down to the final ten nominees in her category.

Anna said: “I was surprised to be shortlisted! I’m proud to be representing Mabey Hire and to be recognised as a good role model. Managing development projects is different in nature to managing standard construction projects. Clients often don’t fully know what they want at the start of the project.”

That’s why she has implemented a system to enable the client to see what is possible and to guide them through the choices available, allowing them to get the best possible outcome. For example, she project managed the development and introduction of Mass 10, Mabey Hire’s modular, lightweight addition to our range of propping, jacking and formwork products, designed specifically for use in applications where space and access are restricted. The original brief was for a lightweight formwork soldier, but through using the project management system, she developed the brief with the client to enable Mass 10 to double as a propping system.

Anna was nominated for the award by Engineering Director Dave Holland, who has worked with her for many years and seen first-hand how she inspires and challenges colleagues, clients and suppliers to follow her lead in driving up the quality, sustainability and clarity of products and guidance.

Dave said: “Anna is doing a fantastic job of leading the Development Engineering team through the complexities of developing new products. She thoroughly deserves to be recognised as one of the construction industry’s pioneering females and I wish her good luck for the awards ceremony tonight.”
