Mabey Hire has today announced it has become one of the first companies in the UK to achieve the ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OH&S) standard from global certification body National Quality Assurance (NQA). The certification is only achieved by those companies committed to creating a safe, healthy and sustainable working environment on a global scale.
Published in March 2018, ISO 45001 is a new international standard designed to ensure organisations around the world operate in a consistent, healthy and safe manner. It was designed as a successor to the OHSAS 18001 standard, first published almost 20 years ago, and covers areas including hazard identification and assessment of risks, emergency preparedness and response, international and external communication, as well as management review.
Mabey Hire has been recognised as exemplary in all these areas, including its ability to streamline internal processes, increase resilience through proactive risk prevention, strengthen legal and regulatory compliance and most importantly, continue its role as a leader in occupational safety and sustainability.
The award comes just a few months after Mabey Hire announced it had achieved certification to ISO 37001, an anti-bribery management system designed to uphold ethical business. Since this initial certification in May, the company is now accredited to ISO 37001 across all 17 of its depot locations.
