What is vibration monitoring?
In construction vibration monitoring is the measurement and analysis of ground-borne vibration levels. This is undertaken either before work commences (to establish baseline and background vibration levels), and/or during construction through continuous monitoring.
Why is vibration monitoring required?
Vibration monitoring helps to protect buildings and infrastructure surrounding a work site from any potential damage or harm that could be caused during demolition or construction works. It also provides accurate records that give protection for contractors against claims.
Local authorities and major clients often specify that vibration monitoring must be carried out in order to protect the neighbouring environment from possible damage or long term effects.Back to top
